Speaker Profile

Dr. Machangu-Motcho is a development professional with experience in agricultural transformation, rural finance, and value chain development in Tanzania. Her work focuses on strengthening smallholder livelihoods through improved access to finance, private sector engagement, and inclusive policy design. She has contributed to initiatives in the dairy, aquaculture, and broader agri-food sectors, with particular interest in formalization, market systems development, and youth inclusion.

Dr. Machangu-Motcho is currently the Country Coordinator for IFAD in Tanzania, and has been co-managing the country portfolio since 2020. Her work at IFAD broadly involves programme management, policy engagement and partnership management.

Prior to IFAD, Dr. Machangu-Motcho worked for over 7 years at different capacities with FAO in the Philippines, South Sudan and in her home country, Tanzania. In addition to that, she worked with International NGOs at senior management capacity in Tanzania.

She is also a board member of a number of NGOs in Tanzania.
Dr. Machangu-Motcho holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University (USA) and a Master’s Degree in Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness from Sokoine University of Agriculture, in Tanzania, and a Doctorate of Agricultural Economics from the University of Dar es Salaam.
