Fanie Ferreira is the Chief Executive Officer of the Milk Producers’ Organisation (MPO) of South Africa, bringing over 34 years of experience in the dairy industry. Having
spent most of his career as a dairy farmer, he offers a practical and grounded understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing milk producers.


He began his leadership journey within organised agriculture in 2015 as Chairman of MPO Free State, which led to his appointment to the MPO National Board of Directors. In October 2022, he was appointed permanent CEO.

He is committed to advancing the long-term sustainability and future of dairy farming in South Africa. He works to enhance support services to farmers, drive industry improvement, and promote a more competitive and resilient dairy sector. Fanie serves as a Director of the Dairy Standards Agency and Milk SA. He was also appointed by the Minister of Agriculture, John Steenhuisen, as the primary dairy industry’s representative on the Industry Coordination Council (ICC), where he contributes to regular updates on Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD). In addition, Fanie represents the primary agricultural sector on the Livestock Welfare Coordinating Committee, advocating for animal health, farmer support, and the long-term sustainability of the dairy industry.
