Mrs. Shuwiso Chatora is a mediaum scale dairy farmer who onws Bon Laitier, a 15‑hectare dairy enterprise at Kintyre Estates, in Norton. Her farm was launched in 2020 with 20 Holstein and 3 Jersey heifers (in calf), the farm’s first calf was born in May 2021. the farm now runs a herd of 92 animals, milking 25 cows and producing about 400–450 litres of milk per day. The farm grows maize and soybeans for feed and supports local farmers by purchasing maize for silage. Operations are managed by seven employees (six men and one woman), with Mrs. Chatora’s son Tendai living and working on the farm. Key challenges include rising costs for fuel, power, feed and concentrates, sexed semen, and changing weather patterns, but Mrs. Chatora remains optimistic about the farm’s prospects.
